US Model 1865 1st Allin Conversion Rifle Musket

.58RF. 37.5" barrel secured by three flat spring retained barrel bands. NSN. Bright finish, steel furniture, full length walnut musket stock. Single shot breechloading alteration of a Civil War musket with Springfield with "Trapdoor" action, 1864 pattern leaf rear sight, combination front sight and socket bayonet lug, sling swivels on triggerguard bow and middle barrel band and straight shank tulip head ramrod. 1865 dated altered Springfield musket lock, no visible cartouches, old museum style inventory number in ink on triggerguard plate. {ANTIQUE}

Condition
Good. Bore very good, somewhat dirty and moderately frosted with strong rifling. Metal cleaned to bright with scattered surface oxidation and some patches of surface rust. Markings remain clear in metal. Mechanically functional action, breech latch loose with minimal tension. Wood with moderate wear, a repair forward of the breech release where the wood is always damaged or cracked by the extractor system and scattered bumps, dings and mars.
